A Message from the LRIPL Team
The Covid 19 pandemic has been a tough adversary for humanity and has completely reshaped the way we live and work. Cases first started appearing in December 2019 and spread all around the world within the first four months of reporting. Offices, schools, travel and even social gatherings have all succumbed to the virus. In this age of online information, We believe it is our obligation to use our newly redesigned platform to help generate awareness about the virus.
Overview
The coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is a contagious respiratory and vascular disease that was first identified in Wuhan, China. It was declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization on 11th March 2020. A majority of the people infected with the disease experience mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover naturally with time. The disease can be much more lethal to older people, and those with preexisting medical conditions like diabetes, respiratory disease etc.
It is very important to be educated about the virus. With the age of information upon us, news is abundant and unfiltered and hence it is integral to filter your information and double check everything that we read on the internet. We urge everyone to verify any information about the virus before taking it as fact. We also request everyone to adopt the best practices and adhere to guidelines given by the World Health Organization.
Transmission:
The virus spreads primarily through infected people via person to person contact. When an Infected person coughs, sneezes or speaks, the virus can travel through the air in the form of droplets of aerosols. Therefore it is very important to wear masks and follow common etiquette while coughing/sneezing. The use of masks stops transmission of these droplets from reaching other people whilst still allowing them to breathe. Some additional facts shared by the World Health Organization state that the virus acts regardless of weather conditions and can be transmitted in both hot and cold areas.
Symptoms:
The most common symptoms include:
• Fever
• Dry cough
• Tiredness
Less common symptoms:
• Aches and pains
• Sore throat
• Diarrhoea
• Conjunctivitis
• Headache
• Loss of taste or smell
• Discolouration of fingers or toes
Best practices to slow down transmission of the virus and stay safe:
• Wash your hands regularly with soap and water, or clean them with alcohol-based hand rub.
• Maintain at least 1 metre distance between you and people coughing or sneezing.
• Avoid touching your face.
• Cover your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing.
• Stay home if you feel unwell.
• Refrain from smoking and other activities that weaken the lungs.
• Practice physical distancing by avoiding unnecessary travel and staying away from large groups of people.
Our Commitment to safety:
As the world prepares to reopen and resume operations, it should not be forgotten that the virus is still present and needs to be dealt with cautiously. The lockdown may get relaxed but the virus is still at large and it is very important to ensure strict measures are being taken to maintain safety.
We have made it our goal to ensure that the company operations are carried out smoothly while providing maximum safety for our workers. Sanitizers have been placed all around the office for use. Protection equipment is distributed to everyone to keep the workplace virus-free. Entrances to the office have been restructured with automatic sanitizer dispensers for everyone entering and exiting the premises. The guards have been instructed to carry out temperature monitoring and regular checks. Oxymeters have also been provided for oxygen level testing. Internal operations have also been modified as physical meetings have shifted to virtual meetings whenever possible. When not possible, minimum distance of 1m is maintained. Furthermore, people feeling unwell are encouraged to stay home and get tested. Whole office premises are also regularly sanitized during off-hours.
We believe that our commitment to minimize transmission and provide our workers with an environment that feels safe is irreplacable for our goal of ensuring smooth operations. In addition to this, we place a lot of emphasis on educating workers about the virus and encouraging them to continue these practices in their off-work hours.
In these tough times, we urge everyone to stay home unless required as we continue to bring you products to keep you entertained in the comfort and safety of your home.
